Preview: Tweetie for iPhone
*UPDATE: Just discovered this is not available for some major regions yet like US/UK, could be possible to attain with a New Zealand iTunes account, this post details the process to get a US account from abroad, should be similar to get one in New Zealand.*
OK so I’ve just installed the new Twitter app (that replaces Tweetie 2) for iPhone and here are my first quick-fire thoughts and observations.

1. It’s *much* faster than Tweetie 2. Perhaps it’s been prioritized on the API?
2. New “reply all” function so everyone mentioned in the tweet gets the reply, not just the person who tweeted it

3. Retweet has been made a main button

4. Search page now has sponsored tweets

5. It’s an update, not a different app.
Once you update, you lose Tweetie 2
6. Follow button has moved to prominent top position, and now the app tells you if they’re following you back.

7. Retweet has been added to the flick bar
8. It now warns you if you’re geo tagging your tweet

9. No old-style retweets when you hit Quote Tweet, now they are in quote marks with new RT.
10. You can now search Twitter and view trends without logging in
So your telling me they didn’t listen to the thousands of people wanting the old style RT back? Being able to add a comment to a retweet using the RT format and not /via @ ?

Looks like what they have done is combined literal quoting of the tweet ie. “insert tweet here” and then linking to the author via a new style re-tweet.

Sorry already sent this to you via twitter but…
Did they add a feature that distinguishes the difference between old and new tweets in the timeline? I found that very confusing in the old version.

The ‘Reply All’ function is already in Tweetie 2 so it’s not new.

Great write up! I’ve definitely noticed the speed increase. Cool that NZ gets the App before the US!

Yeah I forgot to mention thank you for the great preview. It seems you the only one with a legit preview and not a blog post clamoring “Tweetie 3 has gone live”!

No way to tell which are new and which are old tweets that I can see.

“8. It now warns you if you’re geo tagging your tweet”
“6. ..and now the app tells you if they’re following you back.”
These were already in Tweetie 2. Thanks for posting those first screenshots

Doesn’t look like Tweetie for iPhone supports any sort of push, would be nice to receive them for DMs or Mentions no?
